In this article, we will reveal the main six stages of the production of designer cardboard packages. After all, the company “Design-Print Ukraine” has been working for decades on the creation and development of concise, interesting and beautiful gift packaging. When creating our new gift packaging, we follow a certain algorithm of actions that allows us to create the desired order quickly and without errors during development.
- The first stage in creating designer packaging is stamping the package with foil on a stop-cylinder machine on both sides. A stop-cylinder printing machine (article: about hot stamping equipment (crucible and stop cylinder)) allows you to make a high-quality print on cardboard, because the printing cylinder makes a full rotation around its axis, thereby deeply embossing the foil into cardboard. By the way, our customers can choose many foil options (article: hot stamping foil) at their own discretion, it is better to carefully examine the samples in person. - The second stage is to cut out the desired shape of a rectangular cardboard package by striking the contour with a die. We perform this technique on a crucible machine (article: die-cutting equipment: crucible, stop cylinder, BOBST), which is a reliable assistant in creating products of complex shape. In crucible machines, a printing form is attached to a vertically placed plate, a plate. The second plate, the crucible, presses the cardboard to the printing form, moving along an axis parallel to its lower edge. This is why we can cut out the desired shape with high quality and accuracy and avoid making errors in dimensions.

- The third stage is the assembly stage. At this step, we can already see what our package looks like and what shape it will have in the final, because this is where we perform folding (i.e. folding a printed sheet in a certain order. Article about folding and this technology.) We fix our product with a heat gun, because it has more advantages than other gluing options, namely:
Hot melt adhesive is super strong and will not tear or damage the glued elements. This adhesive dries in seconds, so our workers don’t have to worry that the parts won’t stick together. It is thanks to the hot melt adhesive that our packages can last a long time for their owner, because neither frost, nor sunlight, nor high humidity will affect the properties of the hot melt adhesive.
Also at this stage, our company reinforces the package with an additional layer of cardboard along the bottom. Thanks to this technology, the consumer can not worry about the strength of the created packages.

- In the fifth step, we thread the prepared satin ribbon through the holes made for the handles on the bag, which we secure with a knot. This method of fastening is quite strong and minimalistic.
- The last stage is packing the finished gift bags in kraft paper. We do this with transportation in mind, because kraft paper will allow the designer packages to reach the customer intact and undamaged.
